For this month's Blog Hop we are focusing on office supplies!  We want to see you incorporate all of those fun desk drawer fillers into your paper crafting projects.  This can inclue paper clips, binder clips, rubber bands, file folders, staples, binder rings, adhesive labels, post it noes, index cards or whatever else you can dream up.  Reinvent these basic office staples to be hip and trendy additions to your projects!  We look forward to seeing your creation!

Each clip is adorned with a piece of chipoard in various flower shapes.  Each piece of chipboard has been covered with decorative  paper and I have also added a coordinating button from Papertreyink's vintage buttons.

Enjoy!

Gold and Turquoise Handmade Wedding Invitations

"I have found the one whom my soul loves…" Song of Solomon 3:4

sums up the theme for the following wedding invitations

The invitations above I recently made for a couples upcoming wedding.  The couples' wedding colors are gold and tiffany blue.  I was able to match their colors perfectly.

The invitation panel is printed on a linen ecru cardstock.  This panel as well as the response card is accented with beautiful handstamped flourishes in opposite corners.  I stamped the flourishes using a gold metallic ink.  The invitation panel as well as the response card is then double mounted….first on a tiffany blue cardstock and finally on shimmery gold cardstock.

 Hello,

Wow!  It's been quite a while since I've posted.  Thanks for all the kind emails asking if eveything's okay.  Everything is fine, I've just been really busy these last couple of months.

Anyway,  I have a really cute project for you today.  It's called an explosion box.  It is such a unique way to display photos and it is really easy to make. This box is the perfect gift and it doesn’t even need gift wrap!  The box holds up to twelve photos and folds up into a 4 x 4 box.

You will need the following to create your explosion box:

3 pieces of  12 x 12 cardstock

1 piece of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock

Decorative Cardstock

Outside Box:  12 X 12 piece of carstock scored at 4" on all four sides. Cut out the four corners and fold on score lines like a big plus sign.  Cut 4 pieces of decorative paper to 3 3/4" square and attach to the 4 corners of your box.

Middle Box:  10 1/2 X 101/2 piece of carstock scored at 3 1/2 " on all four sides and again cut out the four corners and fold.  Cut 4 pieces of decorative paper to 3 1/4" square and attach to the 4 corners of your box.

Inside Box:  9 X 9 piece of cardstock scored at 3" on all four sides and again cut out the four corners and fold.  Cut 4 pieces of decorative paper to 2 3/4" square and attach to the 4 corners of your box.

Lid:  8 X 8 piece of cardstock scored at 1 7/8" on all four sides.  Cut the corners of the lid as shown here and attach with a little piece of adhesive.

Attach some ribbon and /or some other embellishments to decorate your box.

Here's an explosion box that I recently made.  I will be posting this as well as a few other photo boxes in the Moonlight Creations Store a little later this afternoon.

Sending out handmade wedding invitations gives the bridal couple the opportunity to treat their guests to a totally unique and one-of-a-kind invite.

How handmade wedding invitations make a fabulous first impression

A once-in-a-lifetime affair, every bridal couple takes great pains to make sure everything is just picture-perfect on their wedding day. There are so many things to be attended to and preparations are started several months ahead. There’s the bridal gown, the venue, decoration for the venue, the guest list, caterers, bartenders; the list is endless. No matter how elaborate the plans are or no matter how early the preparations are started, the action till now is still all behind-the-scenes and involves only family and close friends.

The first real inkling the rest of the guests have about the wedding will be from the wedding invitation. It is essentially the first point of contact between guest and the wedding and offers the wedding guests a ’sneak-peak’ at what’s to come.

Handmade invitations are customized to suit the wedding theme as well as the couple’s style; they set the tone for the wedding. A guest who looks at the wedding invite will immediately form an impression of what to expect at the wedding and customized hand-made wedding invitations create the most fabulous first impression of all. Significance of Handmade Wedding Invitations Giving a guest a handmade invitation creates a powerful impact on the guest. It says that despite all the other preparations, the bridal couple had taken time out to create a special invite for every guest. A handmade wedding invite makes every guest feel special.

Handmade Wedding Invitations as Keepsakes

Every handmade wedding invite is like a miniature work of art. With several personalizing options available including custom types of paper, styles of ribbon, shapes, fonts and graphic designs there are endless possibilities for reflecting the couple’s personal styles. When you give out unique handmade wedding invites, your guests are not going to toss it away like they do most store-bought invites. Handmade wedding invites are more likely to be treasured and given a place of honor among other memorabilia in the guest’s home. More and more bridal couples feel it’s surely worth taking the time and trouble over something that they know is going to last forever.

It is the ultra- uniqueness of handmade wedding invitations as well as the powerful message it conveys that make them far more popular than any store bought wedding invite.

The following wedding invitations I am making for a couple getting married this fall.  These invitations are sure to add a refreshing and unique touch to their wedding.

The main pocketfold as well as the invitation panel and front closure are made from a lovely ecru linen cardstock.  This cardstock is surely becoming one of my favorites to work with.  The invitation panel is stamped with a flowering vine in a deep green ink.  If you look closely you can see that the outermost edges of the vine are accented with a subtle chocolate brown ink.  The invitation panel as well as the front closure is mounted on a piece of orange cardstock with a subtle shimmer.  The small flowers are stamped with a coordinating orange ink and accented with a small pearl.

Can you see the subtle chocolate brown on the outermost edges of the vine?  This effect is created using a technique called "rock 'n roll."  Check back tomorrow and I'll have a tutorial showing you how it's done.

Hi There,

I’ve been working with a client from Australia who wanted something similar to the Love Embossed Wedding Invitation I had recently made.  Here’s what I came up with.

You would be surprised with the trouble I had trying to find the right color but this color is absolutely perfect.  It is called blush blossom from stampin up.  It is a cross between a pale pink and a light coffee color.  The stamped image is from papertrey ink.  The image is embossed with clear embossing powder which provides a shade darker blush blossom.

The "LOVE " stamp on the closure is also from stampin’ up.  and is stamped on a vanilla cardstock in blush blossom ink.  This image is also embossed which proves a shiny slightly raised image.

Be sure to subsribe to my blogs feed (you can unsubscribe at any time) so you won’t miss any new items I’ll be posting.  Stop by tomorrow for a look at some wedding favors I’ve been working on.

Thanks for stopping by,

Hi There,

I’ve been working on creating a custom monogram wedding invitation ensemble for a couple.  The actual monogram I created using microsoft word.  The flourishes are created using the stamp set, Finest Flourishes from papertrey ink.  The fourishes have been heat embossed on both the outside of the invitation and also the invitation panel inside.

The monogram on the invitation has the first initial of the bride and groom along with the wedding date.  The menu card and thankyou notes feature a B monogram which represents the bride and grooms married name.

This particular pocketfold is becoming one of my most popular designs.  To see a couple of other wedding invitations using this design visit

The following is a pocketfold wedding invitation I recently made for a couple getting married this fall.  Christine and Frank wanted something simple and elegant.  This pocketfold wedding invitation was hand made from a piece of ecru cardstock which I heat embossed with a lovely flourish design from the stamp set, "Finest Flourishes" by Papertreyink. The heat embossing produces a shiny raised image. The invitation was then layered on a piece of champagne carstock and mounted inside.

A simple ampersand provides an elegant closure to this stunning invitation.

The following is a pocketfold wedding invitation I made for a couple getting married this fall.  They chose the colors navy and gold.  I used the stamp set, "Finest Flourishes,"  from papertrey ink to create these gorgeous invitations.  The LOVE stamp on the front closure is from the stampin’ up stamp set, "Love is a great thing."  The pocketfold is made from a piece of 12 x 12 navy cardstock which has been layered with brushed gold cardstock.

Here’s a photo of the invitations all stamped with the flourish design. They were all heat set and lightly embossed with a metallic gold ink.

Here’s a closeup of the stamped flourish deisgn on the invitation panel.  The metallic gold ink provides a subtle gold shimmer.
