The instructions posted below are for this baroque motifs pocketfold wedding invitation.
This invitation measures 5" x 7" and requires an A7 (5 1/4 " x 7 1/4") envelope. The reception card measures 5" x 31/2" and requires a 51/8" x 3 5/8" envelope commonly reffered to as a 4bar envelope.
The first step in creating this invitation is to cut your base cardstock. Because I am using 12 x 12 cardstock this is a 2 step process. The first step is to cut a piece of cardstock to 12" x 5". Score this piece at 2 1/2" and also at 9 1/2". Your piece should look something like this. The next step is to make the pocket. Cut a piece of cardstock to 6" x 5" and attach to your base as shown here. (You can attach it to either side). Be careful where you put the glue. You don’t want to glue the pocket shut.
For this I used stampin’ up’s chocolate chip cardstock.
The next step, which is a little bit tricky is to cut the pointed part on the flap. To do this I measured 1 3/16"" up on each side and using my scissors cut to the center, which is 2 1/2" as shown here (You can also omit this step and your flap will look like this.)
The next step is to cut your rose red pieces. They are all 1/4" smaller than the chocolate chip cardstock
You will need the following pieces:
- 3 pieces cut to 2 1/4" x 4 3/4"
- 1 piece cut to 5 3/4" x 4 3/4"
- 1 piece cut to 6 3/4" x 4 3/4"
- 1 piece cut to 2 1/4" x 2 1/4"
After cutting your pieces, use your cloth to prepare your cardstock for embossing. This cloth helps the embossing powder to stick only where you want it. Then ink your stamp with versamark and stamp your image onto the cardstock. Next spinkle crystal clear embossing liberally over your stamped image. Tap excess embossing powder off and put back in container. Next heat your images. You’ll notice that the embossing powder will start to melt and produce a lovely image.
After you’ve finished embossing you are ready to adhere the cardstock to your base cardstock. You’ll notice that each piece is 1/4" smaller than the cardstock base. You’ll need to set aside one of the 2 1/4" x 4 3/4" pieces for the flap. You will need to cut this piece as we did above. Measure 1 1/8" up on each side and using your scissors cut to the center, which is 2 3/8". Also set aside the 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" piece. We will be using this for the front flap.
The next step is to adher your vellum which has been printed with your wedding information with a very little bit of adhesive at the top center. (You will be placing your ribbon here to hide the adhesive). The size of the vellum is 6 1/2" x 4 1/2".
Cut 2 pieces of 5/8" chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon to approximately 6" and 3". Make a bow as shown in the following photos. Attach the bow to your invitation with a small glue dot.
Using the pieces we set aside earlier, make the tag. Stamp the word love on a piece of vellum cut to 2" x 2" and adhere this to the rose red cardstock. Adher the rose red cardstock to the chocolate chip cardstock. Cut a piece of chocolate chip 5/8" grosgrain ribbon to approximately 6" and tie in a bow. Attach this to your tag. Trim the ribbon edges.
The invitation is finished.
To last step is to make the response card. Cut a piece of chocolate chip cardstock to 5" x 3 1/2". Cut a piece of rose red cardstock to 4 3/4" x 3 1/4" and adher this to the chocolate chip. Attach your response card which measures 4 1/2" x 3" and is printed on whisper white cardstock to the response card.
